Iniciativa Amotocodie (IA) is a Civil Society Organization which works in the Ayoreo Territory in the Paraguayan Chaco with the aim to safeguard their rights to self-determination, territorial and cultural. Some of the Ayoreo still live in voluntary isolation and much of the organization’s work is devoted to the conservation of the remaining natural lands of the north of the Paraguayan Chaco. IA implements projects and activities aimed at recovering Ayoreo knowledge. The Ayoreo Indigenous Peoples were expelled out of their territory and secluded in so-called communities, which are real shanty towns, where poverty prevails and water is scarce.
