Dasiqox Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area

Dasiqox Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area (IPCA) is an expression of Indigenous governance initiated by the Xeni Gwet’in and Yuneŝit’in Governments, and supported by the Tŝilhqot’in National Government, located about 125 kilometres southwest of Williams Lake, BC. The tribal park concept presents an alternative vision for the management and governance of the land in this area, that reflects the values of the local people – it includes ecosystem protection, cultural revitalization and sustainable economic development. Dasiqox Tribal Park is also called Nexwagwezʔan— meaning ‘there for us.’ (The above images are credited to River Voices Productions and Tsilhqot’in National Government).
